profile
Francesco Cappuccio was born in Italy and earned a Master of Architecture and a Specialist Degree in Industrial Design from the University Federico II of Naples in 1994. Since then, his work has spanned a wide spectrum of design disciplines, from lighting and furniture to facades, interiors, and large-scale installations. His approach is grounded in the belief that “Form follows function and vice versa,” a philosophy that harmonizes aesthetics, usability, and sustainability.
In 2005, Francesco moved to Bangkok, where he combined professional practice with education, teaching lighting and product design and later serving as Academic Director at the AI Bangkok Institute. In 2015, he founded Cappuccio Design Studio and co-founded the brand Lightsculptures, pursuing a vision of design that bridges creativity, craftsmanship, and environmental responsibility.
His collaborations span across international and local brands such as Artitude, Hora, Kochuu, Lightsculptures, Multiforme, and Lumere. Over the years, Francesco has established a method that adapts to the identity and heritage of each brand he works with, ensuring that every project reflects authenticity while embracing innovation.
His creations have earned global recognition, including the Archiproducts Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, and European Design Award, alongside numerous honors for excellence in applied art and design. His iconic piece “Louis XXI” is part of the permanent collection at the M.A.A.M. Museum in Verona.
In 2018, his sustainable installation “The Sunflowers,” presented near the Sydney Opera House, captured international attention and was featured on the front page of the Sydney Herald.
Today, Francesco continues to explore new frontiers in design, blending advanced technologies, sustainable principles, and poetic expression to create works that transcend trends and endure over time.
